A Note from the Filmmaker

"I attended Harand Camp back in the mid-1960s, and the experience of that place has stayed with me my entire life. It has been so hard to articulate in words, because more than anything, Harand Camp is a feeling.

I attended a 50th-year reunion where I saw hundreds of people, of all ages, 20s through 60s, who still loved camp and what it meant in their lives, and I thought: what an interesting subject for a documentary.

What drove me forward was the absolute conviction that I needed to make this film — that in some way, all of my work experience and artistic sensibility had led me to this moment.

True to form, the Harand family took me back into their lives and hearts completely and unconditionally. Once again, they gave me a belief in myself. That's what they always did."
